ArchiCAD Tip: Adjusting Labels

When placing annotation (in Floorplan, Section or Elevation), using the Label tool is probably the most common choice - text can be added, along with a leader line.

It is also common to drag copies of these labels and edit them as appropriate.

One drawback of this (depending on position of elements to be annotated) is that labels may look badly aligned.
The 'Align' command in ArchiCAD will not solve this as this workflow simply moves the complete label.

The best solution would be to use the 'Adjust' command - by using this workflow, the node of the label will remain in the appropriate location, but the text will be 'stretched', or 'adjusted' to suit a new alignment position.

The workflow is as follows:

  1. Place all labels as required
  2. Select all labels to adjust
  3. Click on the Adjust icon in the Main Toolbar or goto Edit > Reshape > Adjust
  4. Draw a new line in the window

  5. All labels should now adjust to this line - thus giving a more desirable look to the annotation.
  6. Repeat the Adjust workflow as necessary
